I am a member of the British Mountain Guides and IFMGA since the year 2000 and have 30 years experience of personal climbing and mountaineering. From climbing new routes in Greenland and the Himalayas, to ice climbing on Ben Nevis, to rock climbing in the UK, I’m happy on all types of terrain. Whether working with beginners or experts I’m hugely passionate about every type of climbing.
For me it all started on the gritstone edges of my home county Derbyshire and from a young age I was hooked on climbing and the mountains, many adventures and expeditions followed including notable new routes on Greenland’s big walls. In the 90’s I spent many years leading mountaineering expeditions in the greater ranges and summited on many high peaks of the Himalayas and the Andes. In the winter of 2012 I completed winter ascents of the north face of the Eiger, Matterhorn and Grand Jorasses. Solo climbing, both roped and un-roped has always been a special forte and over the years have completed numerous difficult solo climbs throughout Britain and the Alps.
I am a highly experienced backcountry skier with expertise gained over 25 years. Skiing has taken me on adventures throughout Europe and further afield to Russia and the Indian Himalayas. My trip reports are regularly published in both the Telegraph and Daily Mail ski supplements.
I live on the edge of the Peak District with my wife Edyta and three young children.
